Sri Lankan visa fees waived for some, Loong Air adds Hangzhou to Jeju
June 5th, 2026. VietJet has opened reservations for a new service linking Ho Chi Minh City with the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo.
“The Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo route opens a new air connection between the two countries, creating new opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the broader Asia-Pacific region,” said Dinh Viet Phuong, the airline’s First Vice Chairman.
The service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flight number VJ1875 will take off from Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat Airport at 18:15 and touch down at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo at 21:50. The return leg, flight number VJ1876, will leave Colombo at 23:00 and arrive back in Ho Chi Minh at 05:55 the following morning.
The flight time will be a little over five hours for the outbound journey and about half an hour longer for the return. The route will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft.
• Sri Lanka has just announced a waiver of visa fees for residents of 40 countries. All foreign visitors must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to visit, but this will be issued free of charge to nationals of countries on the list. The visa is valid for 30 days; visitors wanting to stay longer can apply for an extension, but fees will then apply. The list of eligible countries can be found here.
Hangzhou to Jeju
Loong Air has just launched a new daily service connecting Hangzhou with Jeju Island in South Korea.
Flight number GJ8939 departs from Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan International Airport at 18:30 and lands at Jeju International Airport at 21:25. The return leg, flight number GJ8940, leaves Jeju at 22:25 and arrives back in Hangzhou at 23:20.
The route will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft, and the journey time will be a little under two hours.
