Air Niugini to reinstate Port Moresby to Tokyo route
May 6th, 2026. India’s popular low-cost carrier, Indigo Air, is launching two new daily flights from Kochi to destinations in the United Arab Emirates. First on the runway will be a service to Fujairah, on the Gulf of Oman, commencing on May 7th.
Flight number 6E1519 will take off from Kochi International Airport at 01:40 and will touch down at Fujairah International Airport at 04:10. The return leg, flight number 6E1520, will leave Fujairah at 05:10 and arrive back in Kochi at 10:40.
The journey time will be four hours in each direction, and the route will be served by Airbus A320 Neo aircraft.
Later, on the same day, the airline will launch a service connecting Kochi with Sharjah on the Persian Gulf.
Flight number 6E1603 will depart from Kochi at 13:25 and arrive at Sharjah International Airport at 16:05. The return journey, flight number 6E1604, will depart from Sharjah at 17:05 and land back in Kochi at 22:35.
This flight will also be served by an Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, and the flight time will be a little over four hours each way.
* Since these two destinations are on either side of the Strait of Hormuz, I think it would be a good idea to keep your eye on the news and double-check with the airline before heading to the airport. Stay safe!
Port Moresby to Tokyo
Air Niugini is reinstating its route between Port Moresby and Tokyo after a six-year hiatus. The new service will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting on July 18th.
Flight number PX54 will depart from Port Moresby International Airport at 14:10 and will arrive at Tokyo’s Narita airport at 20:00. The return trip, flight number PX55, will leave Tokyo at 21:40 and arrive back in Port Moresby at 05:30 the following morning.
The flight time will be about six hours and fifty minutes in each direction, and aircraft duties will be shared by Boeing 737-800 on the Wednesday flights and Boeing 767-300 on Saturdays.
