United, Delta, and Air Canada all have new routes lined up
September 4th, 2026. United Airlines will launch a non-stop service between Chicago and Tokyo’s Narita Airport, complementing its current service to Haneda. The service will operate daily commencing on October 24th,
Flight number UA867 will take off from Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 11:40 and will arrive at Narita International Airport, Tokyo, at 15:15 the following day. The return trip, flight number UA868, will leave Tokyo at 18:00 and arrive back in Chicago at 14:50.
The outbound flight will last for about thirteen and a half hours, and the return will be a little less than twelve hours. The journey will be on board a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
San Francisco to Sapporo
On December 11th, the airline will also launch a seasonal service between San Francisco and Sapporo, the capital of Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture. The service will operate three times a week on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until March.
Flight number UA234 will depart from San Francisco International Airport at 10:30 and will arrive at New Chitose Airport, Sapporo, at 14:15 the next day. The return leg, flight number UA235, will leave Sapporo at 16:15 and arrive back in San Francisco at 08:20.
A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will operate the route, and the journey time is scheduled at ten hours and forty-five minutes for the outbound flight, and a little over nine hours for the return.
Vancouver to Sapporo
A week later, on December 17th, Air Canada will also launch a service from Vancouver to Sapporo. The flight will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flight number AC55 will take off from Vancouver International Airport at 14:25 and arrive in Sapporo at 15:35 the next day. The return journey, flight number AC54, will leave Sapporo at 19:35 and will touch down back in Vancouver at 11:50.
The duration of the outbound flight will be nine hours and ten minutes, and the return about one hour less. A Boeing 787-9 will serve the route.
Seattle to Tokyo
For those who like to book well in advance, Delta Airlines will also be launching a daily service from Seattle to Tokyo on March 27th. This route will serve Tokyo’s Narita airport to complement the existing service to Haneda.
Flight number DL115 will depart from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at 13:35 and will arrive in Tokyo at 16:20. The return leg, flight number DL114, will leave Narita at 18:30 and arrive back in Seattle at midnight.
An Airbus A330-900 Neo will serve the route, and the flight time will be ten hours and forty-five minutes for the outbound journey, and nine and a half hours for the return.
