New Routes: Hong Kong to Riyadh, Danang
Taking advantage of Saudi Arabia’s record-breaking tourism boom, Cathay Pacific will launch a service between Hong Kong and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia starting on October 28th. Last year the kingdom’s travel and tourism sector mushroomed by more than 32% to add an eye-watering SAR 444.3 billion to Saudi’s GDP, a total of 11.5% of the entire economy.
In a press release, the airline said the new flights would further “enhance connectivity, trade and cultural exchange between its home hub, Hong Kong, and countries that are participating in China’s Belt and Road Initiative.”
Cathay’s new service will employ an Airbus A350-900 with business, premium economy and economy class seating. It will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The outward flight, CX647, will depart from Hong Kong at 15:05, arriving in Riyadh at 20:15. The return flight, CX648, leaves at 22:15 arriving back in Hong Kong at 11:10, the next day.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Airlines will be adding daily flights between its home city and the coastal city of Danang in Vietnam. Danang is the largest city in Central Vietnam, It boasts a rich history and spectacular beaches with the cool mountain retreat of Ba Na and the the picturesque Hai Van Pass also nearby. It is also the nearest international airport to the delightful Unesco World Heritage site of Hoi An.

The route will use an Airbus A320-200. The outward flight, HX548, will leave Hong Kong at 14.40 arriving in Danang at 15.30 local time. The return leg, HX549, leaves Danang at 1630, arriving back in Hong Kong at 19.20
