New flights between Bangkok and Tichy

Thai AirAsia will add three flights a week between Bangkok and Tiruchirappalli in India. The evening flights will depart from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport at 20:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return flights depart Tiruchirappalli at 23:05, arriving back in Bangkok at 04:15 the following morning.

Tiruchirappalli, often shortened to just Tichy, is in the southern state of Tamil Nadu about 300 kilometres southwest of Chennai. Its recorded history stretches back as far as the third century BCE. Attractions include the Tiruchirappalli Rock Fort whose oldest structures include a temple dating back to 580 CE. Also close are the ancient temples of Ranganathaswamy, dedicated to Ranganatha – a reclining form of Vishnu – and Jambukeswarar, which is dedicated to Shiva.

The city is also an important educational centre being home to the National Institute of Technology (NIT), the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and it is also home to factories and workshops for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Golden Rock Railway Workshop, and High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF).
