More domestic connections in Malaysia
November 6th, 2024. Low-cost carrier, Batik Air, has just launched a new route between Kuala Lumpur and Bintulu, a coastal town in Sarawak on the island of Borneo. Bintulu is the gateway to the Similajau National Park, an area of rainforest and beaches. The park has several trails and is home to gibbons, long-tailed macaques and hornbills as well as riverine and saltwater crocodiles.
The airline operates ten round trips a week. Flight number OD1726 departs from Kuala Lumpur International Airport daily at 10:00 and arrives in Bintulu at 12:20. The return trip, flight number OD1727, leaves Bintulu at 13:20 arriving back in Kuala Lumpur at 15:35.
On Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays flight number OD1728 departs from Kuala Lumpur at 17:00, arriving in Bintulu at 19:20. It returns as flight number OD1729, leaving Bintulu at 20:10 and landing back in Kuala Lumpur at 22:25
Northeast Borneo
On December 1st the airline will introduce flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan in northeast Sabah in Borneo. The town is an important port for coffee, oil, sago, timber, and tobacco exports. It is also the base for exploring the Gomantong Caves, home to bats and birds, and also for visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre
There will be two flights per day with flight number OD1730 taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 07:00 and arriving in Sandakan at 09:50. The return leg, flight number OD1731, will depart from Sandakan at 10:40 and arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 13:30.
The afternoon trip, flight number OD1732 will leave Kuala Lumpur at 16:30 and touch down in Sandakan at 19:20. This will leave Sandakan at 20:10 and land back in Kuala Lumpur at 23:00.
