Into Africa: New flights to Nairobi
AirAsia X is set to expand into Africa with the launch of a new route to Nairobi in Kenya. The inaugural flight will be on November 15th. It is the first direct flight between Malaysia and the African continent and it is hoped it will help to foster stronger trade, tourism and business ties.
“Embarking on this new adventure into Africa is truly exhilarating, particularly in light of our significant growth trajectory earlier this year. We anticipate carrying over 156,000 travellers annually on this route, which will strengthen ties and boost the tourism sectors in both Malaysia and Kenya. Furthermore, this route presents excellent connectivity opportunities to other key markets we serve, including Australia, China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. Travellers across the region can now journey more affordably to Kenya, with a convenient stopover in Kuala Lumpur,” said Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X.

”Both Malaysia and Kenya are vibrant nations, each home to millions of people and a rich tapestry of beautiful heritages and extraordinary sceneries. We look forward to further enriching the cultural and economic exchanges between these dynamic regions,” he continued.
Nairobi is on the edge of the Great Rift Valley with the Ngong Hills and Mount Kenya to the north and Mount Kilimanjaro to the southeast offering some excellent trekking opportunities.
Wildlife abounds. Nairobi is the only capital city in the world with a national park within its boundaries where you can enjoy safari walks, and visits to the Giraffe Centre and the Maasai Mara just a three-hour drive to the east.
There will be four flights a week. Flight D7 101 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 19.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays arriving in Nairobi at 23.00 local time. The return trip will depart at 00.30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays arriving back in Kuala Lumpur at 15.10.
