VietJet to serve the Maldives via Sri Lanka

October 16th, 2026. Riyadh Air has lined up a new service linking the Saudi capital with Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. The route will launch on November 16th and operate three times a week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number RX869 will depart from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport at 21:45 and will arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, at 10:30 the following morning. The return trip, flight number RX870, will leave Jakarta at 13:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and land back in Riyadh at 18:40.

The route will be served by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and the journey time will be eight hours and forty-five minutes for the outbound flight, and about one hour longer for the return.

Ho Chi Minh City to Male via Colombo

From December 5th, VietJet will offer a service to the Maldives via the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo. The service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays commencing on December 5th.

Flight number VJ1815 will take off from Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 07:05 and will touch down at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo at 10:50 for an 85-minute layover. The flight will continue at 12:15 and arrive at Velana International Airport, Male at 13:10.

The return journey, flight number VJ1816, will leave Male at 13:10 and arrive in Colombo at 16:05. It will depart again at 17:05 and arrive back in Ho Chi Minh at 23:50.

The overall journey time will be approximately eight hours in each direction. An Airbus A320 aircraft will serve the route.
