New routes for Greater Bay
The airline will introduce services to Chongqing and Sendai
June 22nd, 2026. On September 4th, Chongqing will be inaugurated into the Greater Bay Airlines timetable. Chongqing was the capital of China during the Second Sino-Japanese War between 1937 and 1945. More recently, it has become internet famous for its futuristic cyberpunk aesthetic. The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Flight number HB868 will depart from Hong Kong International Airport at 14:30 and will touch down at Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing, at 16:55. The return leg, flight number HB869, will leave Chongqing at 18:00 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 20:25.
A Boeing 737-800 aircraft has been earmarked for the route, and the journey time will be about two and a half hours in each direction.
Hong Kong to Sendai
The airline will also be resuming its seasonal service to Sendai, on the northeast coast of Japan’s Honshu island, about 300 kilometres north of Tokyo. The city’s Pageant of Starlight festival, during which the trees along Jozenji-dori Avenue will be illuminated with thousands of lights, runs from December 6th until the 25th. The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from December 17th until February 27th.
Flight number HB360 will take off from Hong Kong at 09:55 and will land at Sendai Airport at 1520. The return trip, flight number HB361, will leave Sendai at 16:20 and land back in Hong Kong at 21:05.
The outbound journey will be approximately four and a half hours, and the return about five hours and forty-five minutes. A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will serve the route.
