May 21st, 2025. A flight between Hanoi and Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi province in northwest China, is to be launched by VietJet Air.

Xi’an is steeped in history being one of the four great ancient capitals along with Beijing, Nanjing, and Luoyang. It was one of the key endpoints at the eastern end of the Silk Road and is also the home of the famous Terracotta Army which was ordered by Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the 3rd century BC.

The service will operate four times a week from July 6th with departures on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flight number VJ7342 will take off from Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport at 21:25 and land at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport at 01:10. The return journey, flight number VJ7343, will leave Xi’an at 02:10 and land back in Hanoi at 04:10.

The airline will deploy Airbus A320 aircraft for the journey which will last about three hours

Kaohsiung to Sendai

Taiwanese low-cost airline Tigerair will be launching direct flights between the island’s southern city, Kaohsiung and Sendai in the northeast of Japan’s main island of Honshu. Sendai is often called the City of Trees thanks to the large number of Japanese zelkova trees that line many of its main streets which, in winter, are illuminated for the Pageant of Starlight.

The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays commencing on July 16th. Flight number IT772 departing from Kaohsiung International Airport at 13:25 and arriving at Sendai Airport at 18:10. The return leg, flight number IT773, will leave Sendai at 19:00 and land back in Kaohsiung at 22:10.

The flight will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft and the outward journey will last three hours and forty-five minutes while a further twenty-five minutes are required for the return.

The airline will also increase its Kaohsiung to Osaka service to daily from mid-July.
