Three new routes from Hong Kong
Greater Bay Airlines launch two to the mainland, HK Express to Kota Kinabalu
July 22nd, 2025. Hong Kong’s Greater Bay Airlines is expanding its services to China with the launch of two new routes. The first on the runway will be a daily service connecting the city with Quanzhou, a port city in Fujian province, which takes off on July 25th.
Flight number HB546 will depart from Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok at 21:10 and arrive at Quanzhou’s Jinjiang International Airport at 22:30. The return journey has two different departure times. From Sunday to Thursday, flight number HB547 will depart from Quanzhou at 08:40 and touch down again in Hong Kong at 10:20. On Fridays and Saturdays, the departure time will be 08:00, landing in Hong Kong at 09:25.
The flight duration will be about 80 minutes in each direction, and the aircraft will be a Boeing 737-800.
From August 1st, the airline will commence flights to Xuzhou in northwest Jiangsu province. The service will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.
Flight number HB848 will take off from Hong Kong at 07:45 and arrive at Xuzhou’s Guanyin International Airport at 10:20. The return leg will leave Xuzhou at 11:20 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 14:05.
This route is also served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a journey time of approximately two hours and forty-five minutes.
Express to Sabah
Meanwhile, HK Express has announced a new service linking Hong Kong with the Malaysian city of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, North Borneo. The flight will operate daily starting on November 27th.
“Malaysia has emerged as one of Asia’s most popular travel destinations, with a 20% year-on-year increase in tourist arrivals. Eased visa policies have particularly boosted visitors from the Chinese Mainland,” said the airline’s CEO, Jeanette Mao.
Flight number UO790 will depart from Hong Kong at 21:25 and arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 00:30 the next morning. The return leg, flight number UO7901, departs Kota Kinabalu at 01:30 and lands back in Hong Kong at 04:45.
An Airbus A321 aircraft will make the trip, which will take a little around three hours and fifteen minutes each way.
