Three new routes
Tokyo to Kaohsiung, Langkawi to Tashkent and Shanghai to Kota Kinabalu
October 27th, 2025. Jetstar Japan has opened reservations for a new daily service connecting Tokyo with Taiwan’s southern city, Kaohsiung. The service will operate daily starting on December 18th.
Flight number GK17 will depart from Tokyo’s Narita Airport at 09:25 and will touch down at Kaohsiung International Airport at 13:00. The return leg, flight number GK18, will leave Kaohsiung at 14:00 and arrive back in Tokyo at 18:30.
The outbound journey will last approximately four and a half hours, the return about one hour less. The route will be served by an Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
Langkawi to Tashkent
Batik Air has a new service connecting Langkawi with Tashkent, in Uzbekistan, lined up. The flight will operate every Sunday starting from December 14th.
Flight Number OD755 will take off from Langkawi International Airport at 17:05 and will arrive at Tashkent International Airport at 21:50. The return journey, flight number OD756, will depart from Tashkent at 23:10 and will land back in Langkawi at 09:55 the next day.
The duration of the flight will be about seven hours and forty-five minutes in each direction, and will be served by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Spring Airlines from Shanghai to Kota Kinabalu
Between January 28th and March 3rd, Spring Airlines will operate a short seasonal service between Shanghai and Kota Kinabalu in the Malaysian state of Sabah. The region is renowned for the UNESCO-listed Kinabalu National Park and the 4,095 metre mountain of the same name, the tallest mountain in Borneo.
Flight number 9C8593 will depart from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport daily at 20:45, and will touch down at Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 01:30 the next morning. The return leg, flight number 9C8594, leaves Kota Kinabalu at 02:30 and arrives back in Shanghai at 06:55.
An Airbus A320 aircraft to serve the route, and the journey will be about four and a half hours each way.
