Taipei to Phoenix and Busan
Hong Kong to the ancient city of Lijiang
July 30th, 2025. Starting on December 3rd, China Airlines will introduce a service between Taipei and Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix is the gateway to the Grand Canyon region.
The outbound flight will be non-stop, but there will be a technical stop in Los Angeles on the return. The flight will operate three times a week on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Flight number CI36 will take off from Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 10:55 and will touch down at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 08:00. The return journey, flight number CI35 will leave Phoenix at 11:55 and land at Los Angeles International at 12:20 for a two and a half hour layover before continuing the flight at 14:50. It touched down again in Taipei at 21:30 the following day.
The duration of the outbound flight will be around twelve hours, but the total for the return leg will be approximately eighteen and a half hours. The airline will deploy Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
On October 21st, Eva Air will launch a direct service between Taipei’s Taoyuan International and Busan in South Korea.
Flight number BR164 will depart from Taipei at 12:30 and arrive at Busan’s Gimhae International Airport at 15:55. From October 28th onwards, the departure time will change to 14:25 and land at 17:40. The return journey will leave Busan at 18:55 and touch down again in Taipei at 20:25.
The flight duration will be about two and a half hours in each direction, and the aircraft will be an Airbus A321.
Modern Hong Kong to Ancient Lijiang
In the meantime, Hong Kong Airlines will be inaugurating a new service between the city and Lijiang. Located in Yunnan province, about 320 kilometres northwest of Kunming on the Yungui Plateau, Lijiang Old Town is a UNESCO Heritage Site.
The service will commence on September 8th with three flights a week departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flight number HX412 will take off from Hong Kong International Airport at 19:50 and arrive at Lijiang’s Sanyi International Airport at 22:45. The return leg, flight number HX413, will leave Lijiang at 09:05 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and arrive back in Hong Kong at 11:55
The flight will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft and will take a little under three hours in each direction.
