Kunming connects with Kolkata, Air India adds Hanoi and Tokyo

March 18th 2026. China Eastern will be introducing a direct route between Kunming and Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state in India, starting on April 18th. The flight will operate six times a week, with Tuesday being the day without service.

Flight number MU555 will take off from Kunming’s Changshui International Airport at 23:55, and arrive at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata at 00:10 the next morning. The return leg will leave Kolkata at 01:10 (excluding Wednesdays) and arrive back in Kunming at 06:20.

The journey will last for about two hours and forty-five minutes in each direction, and will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Delhi to Hanoi

Air India is expanding its footprint in East Asia with two new flights lined up. First on the runway will be a service connecting Delhi with the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi. The flight will operate five times a week on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Flight number AI2390 will depart from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, at 01:20 and touch down at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 07:20. The return journey, flight number AI2391, will leave Hanoi at 08:20 and land back in Delhi at 11:35.

Airbus A320 Neo will serve the route, and the duration of the flight will be about four and a half hours for the outbound trip, and a little bit longer for the return.

Mumbai to Tokyo

June 15th will see the launch of a flight between Mumbai and Tokyo. The service will operate four times a week, departing on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number AI356 will take off from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, at 16:50 and will arrive at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at 04:55 the following morning. The return leg, flight number AI355, will leave Tokyo at 08:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and will touch down again in Mumbai at 14:20.

A Boeing 787-800 will serve the trip, which will last approximately eight and a half hours for the outbound journey and about half an hour longer for the return.
