Scheduled services from Sulawesi to Shanghai and Shenzhen

August 15th, 2025. Indonesian carrier TransNusa is upgrading two of its charter services to regular scheduled flights. Both flights originate in Manado on the northeastern tip of Sulawesi.

“Our main priority and focus is to create new exciting routes for our passengers and offer seamless and fast travel, whether through direct routes or transit routes,” said the airline’s CEO, Datuk Bernard Francis.

The Shanghai service commences on September 8th and will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number 8B-101 will take off from Manado’s Sam Ratulangi International Airport at 14:00 and will arrive at Shanghai Pudong at 20:55. The return journey, flight number 8B-102, will leave Shanghai at 23:05 and arrive back in Manado at 05:30 the next morning.

The duration of the flight will be about seven hours on board a Comac C909 aircraft, formerly known as ARJ-21. It has been reported that there will be a short stop at Clark in the Philippines. This is not mentioned on the airline’s website, so it is presumably for refuelling only.

Manado to Shenzhen

The Shenzhen service will take off on October 2nd. It will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Flight number 8B-175 will depart from Manado at 21:10 and will touch down at
Shenzhen’s Bao’an International Airport at 01:00 the following morning. The return leg, flight number 8B-175, will take off from Shenzhen at 02:00 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and arrive back in Manado at 05:40.

The airline will deploy Comac C909 aircraft, and the journey time will be a little under four hours.
