New service to Urumqi
HK Express to open a route to Komatsu
March 12th, 2025. Cathay Pacific is to launch a new service linking its home city, Hong Kong, with Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in Northwestern China. The flight is scheduled to operate four times a week on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays starting from April 28th.
Flight number CX998 will take off from Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok at 01:30 and will land at Urumqi’s Diwopu International Airport at 07:00. The return leg, flight number CX997, will depart from Urumqi at 10:15 and land back in Hong Kong at 15:20.
The duration of the outbound journey is about five hours and thirty minutes, and the return is a little over five hours. The flight will be served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
HK Express to Komatsu
Meanwhile Cathay’s low-cost sibling, HK Express is to add yet another Japanese destination to its route map. This time to Komatsu in Ishikawa prefecture on the west coast of Japan’s Honshu Island.
Komatsu is the logical jumping-off point for exploring the Hokuriku region, with Kanazawa nearby, the area is rich in history, culture, and nature. And for shopaholics, the Mitsui Outlet Park at Oyabe is within easy reach.
The service will launch on April 24th with three flights a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flight number UO802 will depart from Hong Kong at 14:00 and will land at Komatsu Airport at 19:00. The return journey, flight number UO803 will leave Komatsu at 19:45 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 23:00.
The flight is served by Airbus A320 neo aircraft and the outbound journey is four hours. The return flight lasts for four hours and fifteen minutes though HK Express passengers can choose to return from any of a dozen other airports across Japan.
