New service from Shenzhen to Hai Phong
AirAsia to launch Kuala Lumpur to Banjarmasin flights

September 26th, 2025. Shenzhen Airlines will launch direct flights between its home base at Baoan International Airport, Shenzhen, and the port city of Hai Phong, in Vietnam. Hai Phong is also the jumping-off point for visits to Cát Bà, an archipelago to the south of Ha Long Bay and featuring the same dramatic karst formations.

The island itself boasts a national park of 109 square kilometres of land area plus an additional 52 square kilometres of inshore waters. In 2004, the entire archipelago was named a Unesco Biosphere Reserve and in 2023, a World Heritage site.

The service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flight number ZH125 will take off from Shenzhen at 15:40 and arrive at Cat Bi International Airport, Hai Phong at 16:50. The return leg, flight number ZH126, will depart from Hai Phong at 17:50 and will touch down again in Shenzhen at 20:50.

The duration of the flight will be about two hours in each direction and will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Kuala Lumpur and Banjarmasin

Starting on October 20th, AirAsia will introduce the first direct service between Kuala Lumpur and Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan on Indonesian Borneo. The service will operate four times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Banjarmasin is the largest city in South Kalimantan and sits on a delta at the confluence of the Barito and the Martapura rivers.

Flight number AK442 will depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 07:15 and will touch down at Syamsudin Noor International Airport, Banjarmasin at 09:50. The return leg, flight number AK441, will depart from Banjarmasin at 10:15 and arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 13:05.

The flight time will be a little under three hours for the outbound journey, and about two and a half hours for the return. The flight will be served by Airbus A321 aircraft.
