New routes to Indonesia
Services to Borneo and Sulawesi from Kuala Lumpur
October 20th, 2025. Batik Air has two new routes to Indonesia lined up for the new year. First on the runway will be a service connecting Kuala Lumpur with Pontianak, West Kalimantan province, on the island of Borneo. Pontianak, the provincial capital, sits on the Kapuas River delta and was both a fishing village and a trading port. The centre of town is just three kilometres south of the Equator.
Commencing on January 5th, the service will depart three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Flight number OD378 will take off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 17:20 and will land at Pontianak’s Supadio International Airport at 18:05. The return leg, flight number OD379, will leave Pontianak at 07:35 on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 10:30.
The flight will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and the journey time will be about one hour and forty-five minutes in each direction.
And to Sulawesi
On February 2nd, the airline will launch a daily service between Kuala Lumpur and Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi. Makassar has been an important centre of trade throughout its history. The Portuguese maintained a fort from the mid-sixteenth century until they were replaced by the Dutch East India Company in the mid-seventeenth century.
Flight number OD360 will depart from Kuala Lumpur at 19:00 and will land at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar, at 22:25. The return journey, flight number OD361, will leave Makassar at 07:35 and arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 11:00.
The journey time will be approximately three and a half hours in each direction, and a Boeing 737-800 aircraft will serve the route.
