Kuala Lumpur to Palembang, Surabaya to Bangkok, plus domestic routes
July 24th, 2025. Batik Air Malaysia will add a service between Kuala Lumpur and Palembang. The flight will operate daily starting on September 12th.
Flight Number OD362 will depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 20:00 and touch down at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport, Palembang at 20:30. The return leg, flight number OD363, will depart from Palembang at 07:30 and arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 10:10.
The route will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and the journey time is about 90 minutes in each direction.
Bangkok and Borneo
Meanwhile, Air Asia Indonesia is expanding both its International and domestic services out of Surabaya with flights to Bangkok and northeast Borneo.
The Bangkok service will hit the runway on October 2nd with flight number QZ330 taking off from Juanda International Airport, Surabaya at 13:30 and arriving at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport at 17:50. The return journey, flight number QZ331, departs Bangkok at 18:25 and lands back in Surabaya at 22:35.
The journey time will be about four hours and fifteen minutes on board an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Two particularly intriguing routes will serve Tanjung Redeb and Tarakan, both in North Kalimantan. Both flights operate three times a week via Balikpapan.
The service to Tarakan will start on October 1st and operate on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flight number QZ770 will depart from Surabaya at 05:10 and land at Balikpapan Sepinggan Airport at 07:45. It departs Balikpapan at 08:15 and arrives at Tarakan’s Juwata International Airport at 09:30.
The return leg, flight number QZ771, leaves Tarakan at 10:00 and touches down in Balikpapan at 11:15 for a 30-minute layover and lands back in Surabaya at 12:20.
The flight to Tanjung Redeb operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight from Surabaya to Balikpapan follows the above timetable, but the flight number will be QZ772, which will arrive at Kalimarau Airport, Tanjung Redeb at 09:30. It heads back to Balikpapan as flight number QZ773, at 10:00, arriving at 11:10.
The total journey time for both services is about three hours and twenty minutes, and the aircraft will be an Airbus A320.
