New routes from Bangkok to China
Air Asia adds Kuala Lumpur to Banjarmasin service
August 19th, 2025. Chongqing and Tianjin are the destinations for two new Thai Lion flights to be launched in October. First on the runway will be a daily service to Chongqing, which takes off on October 26th.
Flight number SL930 will depart from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport at 21:45 and will arrive at JiJiangbei International Airport, Chongqing at 01:50 the next morning. The return leg, flight number SL931, will depart from Chongqing at 02:50 and arrive back in Bangkok at 05:00.
The journey will take a little over three hours in each direction, and the flight will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
A day later, on October 27th, the airline will resume its service to Tianjin, which it last flew in August 2024. The flight will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Flight number SL992 will take off from Don Mueang at 16:40 and will touch down at Tianjin Binhai International Airport at 22:25. The return journey, flight number SL993, will leave Tianjin at 23:30 and arrive back in Bangkok at 03:25 the following morning.
The flight duration will be a little under five hours in each direction, and the route will be served by Boeing 737-900ER aircraft.
Kuala Lumpur to Banjarmasin
AirAsia will launch direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan on Indonesian Borneo. The service commences on October 21st and will operate four times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flight number AK442 will take off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 07:15 and arrive at Syamsudin Noor International Airport, Banjarmasin at 09:50. The return service, flight number AK441, will depart from Banjarmasin at 10:15 and will arrive back in Kuala Lumpur at 13:05.
Airbus A320 aircraft will serve the route, which will take a little over two and a half hours.
