March 9th, 2026. India’s popular low-cost airline, IndiGo, is launching a few new routes in time for Summer. The flights will link Kolkata and Shanghai, Chennai and Reunion, and Delhi and Istanbul.

First on the runway will be a daily service linking Kolkata and Shanghai, which takes off on March 29th.

Flight number 6E1709 will depart from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, at 21:45, and will arrive at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 04:40. The return journey, flight number 6E1710, will leave Shanghai at 05:40 and arrive back in Kolkata at 09:05.

An Airbus A320 Neo aircraft will serve the route, and the journey time will be approximately four and a half hours for the outbound flight and about an hour and a half longer for the return.

Chennai to Saint Denis de la Réunion

On April 29th, the carrier will introduce a route between Chennai and Réunion, a small but picturesque island in the Indian Ocean, between Mauritius and Madagascar.

Flight number 6E1871 will take off from Chennai International Airport at 12:20 on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and will land at Roland Garros Airport, St. Denis de la Réunion at 17:10. The return leg, flight number 6E1872, departs from Réunion at 18:10 and lands back in Chennai at 02:10 the next morning.

The flight duration will be about six and a half hours in each direction and will be served by Airbus A320 Neo aircraft.

Delhi to Istanbul

The direct daily service to Istanbul from Delhi will replace the existing service, which currently has a refuelling stop at Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, shaving two hours off the journey time.

From May 1st, flight number 6E011 will depart from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, at 06:15 and touch down at Istanbul Grand Airport at 12:15. The return journey, flight number 6E012, will leave Istanbul at 18:35 and arrive back in Delhi at 05:20 the following morning.

The route will be served by an Airbus A321XLR aircraft, and the flight time will be about eight and a half hours outbound and a little less for the return.
