New route links Bangkok and Kolkata
China Southern adds direct flight to Nairobi, PIA to Riyadh

December 23rd, 2025. Thai VietJet will be launching direct flights between Bangkok and Kolkata commencing on January 4th. The service will operate four times a week, departing on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number VZ770 will take off from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 22:30 and will arrive at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, at 23:50. The return journey, flight number VZ771, will depart from Kolkata at 00:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and arrive back in Bangkok at 04:55.

The flights will be on board Airbus A320 aircraft, and the journey time will be about two hours and fifty minutes for the outbound flight, a little less for the return.

Guangzhou to Nairobi

Between January 23rd and March 27th, China Southern will operate a weekly direct flight between Guangzhou and Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya. The flight will depart every Friday and is in addition to the two services the airline already operates via Changsha.

Flight number CZ633 will depart from Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport at 00:55 and arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, at 07:05. The return journey, flight number CZ634, will leave Nairobi at 13:25 and touch down again in Guangzhou at 05:00 the next morning.

The outbound journey is scheduled to last a little over eleven hours, and the return about ten and a half hours. A Boeing 787-900 will serve the route.

Karachi to Riyadh

Pakistan International Airlines has opened reservations for its service linking Karachi and Riyadh after an almost three-year hiatus. The flight will operate once a week, departing on Fridays.

Flight Number PK729 will take off from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at 20:45 and will arrive at King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh at 22:45. The return leg, flight number PK730, will leave Riyadh on Saturday mornings at 00:05 and will land back in Karachi at 05:10.

An Airbus A320 will serve the route, and the duration will be about four hours for the outbound journey and an hour less for the return.
