New flight between Hong Kong and Sydney
Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia
February 13th, 2025. Hong Kong Airlines will launch a new route connecting its home base with Australia’s largest city, Sydney.
The daily service will take off on June 20th with flight number HX017 taking off from Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport at 22:25 and arriving in Sydney at 09:50 the following morning. The return leg, flight number HX018, will leave Sydney at 11:30 and land back in Hong Kong at 19:15 local time.
“This is an important milestone for Hong Kong Airlines. In the past, we only operated flights to the Gold Coast and Cairns in Australia,” said Yan Bo, Hong Kong Airlines chairman,
“Now, we are honoured to extend our reach to Sydney, the country’s most iconic city. This new route will enable us to serve a broader range of international travellers and is also a testament to the efforts of the two governments to actively support more bilateral air traffic rights.”
The flight is served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft featuring business and economy classes and the journey time is a little less than ten hours outwards and none hours and fifteen minutes return.
Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia
For those that like to plan ahead, Delta Airlines has earmarked December 5th to launch a non-stop service between Los Angeles and Melbourne. Reservations are already open for the flight which will operate three times a week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Flight number DL11 will depart from Los Angeles at 21:25 and arrive in Melbourne at 08:15 two days later. The return trip will take off from Melbourne at 10:25 on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and land back in Los Angeles at 06:10 on the same day.
The duration of the outward journey is a little under sixteen hours, the return is fourteen hours and forty-five minutes. The airline will deploy Airbus A350-900 aircraft for the flight.
