New domestic routes for Indonesia
North Sulawesi to North Maluku

February 14th, 2025. Some interesting flights are opening up to connect various locations in the sprawling Indonesian archipelago making travel much easier and faster for locals and adventure seekers alike.

On February 21st, low-cost carrier Super Air Jet will be launching a service linking Pontianak in West Kalimantan on the island of Borneo with Lombok Praya via Banjarmasin, in South Kalimantan. The flight will operate on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number IU268 will depart from Pontianak Supadio International Airport at 08:30 and arrive at Banjarmasin’s Syamsudin Noor International Airport at 10:55. It continues its journey, leaving Banjarmasin at 11:35 and arriving at Lombok’s Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport at 12:55.

The return journey, flight number IU269, takes off from Lombok at 13:35 and touches down again in Banjarmasin at 14:55. The final leg leaves Banjarmasin at 15:35 and returns to Pontianak, landing at 16:00.

The duration of each leg is around 80 to 85 minutes but it is worth remembering that Indonesia has three time zones with the Pontianak being one hour behind behind Banjarmasin. The flight will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft.

North Sulawesi to North Maluku

Starting on February 21st Sriwijaya Air will resume its service linking Manado, at the northern tip of Sulawesi with Ternate, on the island of North Maluku. A route it last few a little over four years ago.

The flight will operate daily with flight number SJ692 taking off from Ternate’s Sultan Babullah Airport at 12:30, making a 50-minute flight crossing from the eastern to central time zone, and landing at Manado Sam Ratulangi International Airport at 12:20. The return leg will depart Manado 13:05 and land back in Ternate at 14:55. The airline will deploy a Boeing 737-800.
