New AirAsia service to Adelaide
Jetstar links Cairns and Christchurch
April 14th, 2025. At the latter end of June, Indonesia AirAsia will be launching services between Bali and Adelaide. This will be the first flight Indonesia AirAsia has operated out of Adelaide.
“While we all know Bali is a number one holiday destination for Australians, we are also connecting South Australia to the world of AirAsia with over 130 destinations across Asia and beyond, using Bali as a key hub to look to fly somewhere different at great value prices,“ said Veranita Yosephine, CEO of Indonesia AirAsia.
“At the same time, Adelaide will now be on the map as a new location for the many millions of AirAsia guests who fly with us each year which they can connect to via Bali. South Australia has so many unique local tourism highlights including diverse arts, incredible landscapes, beaches, world-renowned vineyards, culture, shopping and food.”
The service will operate four times a week. Flight number Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flight number QZ420 will take off from Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport at 23:45 and will land at Adelaide Airport at 06:25 the next morning. The return leg, flight number QZ421 will depart from Adelaide at 07:05 and touch down again in Bali at 10:55.
The southbound flight will be five hours and ten minutes, and the return about ten minutes longer. The airline will deploy an Airbus A320-200 aircraft for the journey.
North Queensland to South New Zealand
Meanwhile, Jetstar has just launched a service linking Cairns in North Queensland with Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island.
Flight number JQ135 departs from Cairns Airport at 22:55 on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and arrives at Christchurch International Airport at 05:50 the next morning. The return leg departs from Christchurch at 07:05 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and touches down again in Cairns at 10:40.
The flight will be served by Airbus A320-200 aircraft. The outward flight is just under five hours and the return is five hours and thirty-five minutes.
