HK Express adds flights to S Korea
New services to Cheongju and Daegu
March 20th, 2025. Starting from June 5th HK Express, the low-cost sibling of Cathay Pacific, will launch a new service between Hong Kong and Cheongju in South Korea. Cheongju is the capital and largest city in North Chungcheong Province. It straddles the Geum River and boasts numerous historic temples and the Sangdang Sanseong Fortress to the northeast of the city.
Flight number UO658 will take off from Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Lok at 02:20 on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and arrive at Cheongju International Airport at 06:45. The return journey, flight number UO659 will depart Cheongju at 07:30 and arrive back in Hong Kong at 10:05.
An Airbus A320 will make the journey in around three and a half hours in each direction.
Also to Daegu
The following day, on June 6th, the airline will launch a service from Hong Kong to Daegu in the southeast, about 80 kilometres north of Busan. The city is at the heart of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk industrial region. Its key industries include metals, machinery, and textiles.
This service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flight number UO656 will leave Hong Kong at 02:20 and arrive at Daegu International Airport at 06:45. The return leg, flight number UO657, will depart from Daegu at 07:30 and touch down again in Hong Kong at 10:05.
The flight will be served by Airbus A320 aircraft and the duration is about three and a half hours in each direction.
With these new flights, HK Express will be the only airline in the Greater Bay Area offering direct flights to five destinations in South Korea. The other services are Seoul Incheon, Busan, and Jeju.
