Flights to the Mainland
New services linking Hong Kong with Xi’an and Xuzhou to be launched
July 9th, 2025. Hong Kong Airlines will be launching direct flights between Hong Kong and the ancient Chinese capital, Xi’an, commencing on July 18th. The service will operate five times a week with departures on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi province. Formerly known as Chang’an for most of its history, it is one of China’s Four Ancient Capitals and home to the world-famous Terracotta Army. It also served as the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road.
Flight number HX418 will take off from Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok at 21:40 and will arrive at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport at 01:05 the next morning. The return leg, flight number HX419, will depart from Xi’an at 02:30 and touch down again in Hong Kong at 06:00.
The flight duration will be about three and a half hours in each direction and will be on board an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Hong Kong to Xuzhou
Meanwhile, Greater Bay Airlines has announced a new service linking Hong Kong with Xuzhou in Jiangsu province. The service will launch on August 1st and operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.
Xuzhou is designated a National Famous Historical and Cultural City and, thanks to its many green spaces, a National Garden City. It boasts its own army of terracotta warriors, the Baolian Temple, and the Yunlong Lake Scenic Area.
Flight number HB848 will depart from Hong Kong at 07:45 and will arrive at Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport at 10:20. The return journey, flight number HB849, will leave Xuzhou at 11:20 and touch down again in Hong Kong at 14:05.
The flight will be served by Boeing 737 aircraft, and the flight time will be about two hours and forty-five minutes each way.
