Chongqing goes to Malaysia
Three new flights from the Chinese city to Kota Kinabalu, Penang and KL
February 4th, 2026. Chinese carrier Chongqing Airlines has lined up a trio of new flights to Malaysia for the summer season. The destinations are Kota Kinabalu, in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The first of these kicks off on March 19th with three flights a week to Kota Kinabalu.
The Sabah capital, Kota Kinabalu, is the gateway to the Kinabalu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to the 4,095 metre Mt Kinabalu.
Flight number OQ2193/CZ2193 will take off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 19:00, and will land at Sabah International Airport, Kota Kinabalu, at 23:15. The return trip, flight number OQ2194/CZ2194, leaves Kota Kinabalu at 00:30 on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and arrives back in Chongqing at 05:10.
The outbound flight duration will be four hours and fifteen minutes, and about half an hour longer for the return.
Penang
There will be four flights a week to both Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Both take off on April 8th.
For Penang, flight number OQ2195/CZ2195 will depart from Chongqing on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 19:50 and will touch down at Penang International Airport at 00:30 the next morning. The return leg, flight number OQ2196/CZ2196, will leave Penang at 01:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and will land back in Chongqing at 05:50.
The flights in each direction will be approximately four and a half hours.
Kuala Lumpur
Flight number OQ2191/CZ2191 will take off for Kuala Lumpur at 21:45 on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and will arrive in the country’s commercial hub at 02:30 the following morning. The return journey, flight number OQ2192/CZ2192, will leave Kuala Lumpur at 03:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and will arrive back in Chongqing at 08:25.
The journey time will be about four hours and forty-five minutes in each direction. All the above flights will be served by Airbus A320 Neo aircraft.
Chongqing Airlines’ own reservations platform is Chinese language only, but since the flights are codeshare with China Southern, reservations in English can be made there.
