China Southern links Urumqi with Frankfurt
Air Astana launches new route to Guangzhou

April 13th, 2026. A new route connecting Urumqi with Frankfurt, Germany, will hit the runway on June 1st. The flight, operated by China Southern, will originate in Guangzhou and depart twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.

Flight number CZ6041 will take off from Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou, at 08:10 and will touch down at Urumqi’s Tianshan International Airport at 13:40 for a 90-minute stopover. It continues its journey at 15:10, finally arriving at Frankfurt International Airport at 17:20. The return leg, flight number CZ6042, will leave Frankfurt at 19:20 and land in Urumqi at 09:05 the next morning for a stopover of almost two hours. It departs from Urumqi at 11:00 and arrives back in Guangzhou at 16:00.

The overall flight time will be a little over fifteen hours for the outbound journey and about fourteen and a half hours for the return. The route will be served by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The existing direct flight from Guangzhou to Frankfurt will be increased from two to four a week from July 14th, and the airline also operates a once-a-week route via Shenyang.

Astana to Guangzhou

On June 2nd, Air Astana will launch a direct service between Astana and Guangzhou. It will depart twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Flight number KC8217 will depart from Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport at 18:45 and arrive in Guangzhou at 04:30 the following morning. The return trip, flight number KC8218, will leave Guangzhou at 05:45 on Wednesdays and Fridays and arrive back in Astana at 10:10.

The route will be served by Airbus A321 Neo aircraft. The outbound flight time will be about six hours and forty-five minutes, and the return will be approximately forty minutes longer.
