February 13th, 2026. Starting on March 29th, Malaysia’s Batik Air will begin services between Penang and Perth. The flight will operate daily with a seventy-minute stop in Jakarta on the way.

Flight number OD197 will take off from Penang International Airport at 15:15 and arrive in Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 16:45. It departs from Jakarta at 17:55 and touches down at Perth Airport at 23:35.

The return trip, flight number OD198, leaves Perth at 01:35 and gets to Jakarta at 05:15. It continues its journey at 06:25 and finally arrives back in Penang at 09:55. All times are local.

The overall flight time will be about eight hours and twenty minutes in each direction, and the route will be served by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Canberra to Denpasar

Virgin Australia will launch a service between Canberra and Denpasar, Bali, on June 22nd. The flight will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Flight number VA127 will depart from Canberra Airport at 16:10 and land at Denpasar’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 20:55. The return leg, flight number VA128, will leave Denpasar at 22:10 and arrive back in Canberra at 06:00 the next morning.

A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will serve the flight, and the duration will be approximately six hours and forty-five minutes for the outbound flight, and about an hour less for the return.

Shanghai to Adelaide

Also launching at the latter end of June will be a limited-time service linking Shanghai and Adelaide. The route will be operated by China Eastern Airlines between June 20th and August 1st. It will depart three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Flight number MU781 will take off from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 19:40 and arrive at Adelaide Airport at 07:30 the next morning. The return journey, flight number MU782, will leave Adelaide at 09:30 and arrive back in Shanghai at 18:30.

The flight will be aboard an Airbus A350-900, and the journey time will be about ten and a half hours in each direction.
