Thai Lion adds new domestic routes

April 22nd, 2025. Thai AirAsia will be launching direct flights between Phuket and Medan, the capital of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province. The service will take off on June 27th and will operate four times a week.

Flight number FD390 will depart from Phuket International Airport at 14:50 on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and arrive at Medan’s Kualanamu International Airport at 16:20. The return journey, flight number FD391, will depart from Medan at 16:50 and will touch down again in Phuket at 18:10.

The flight duration will be about one hour and twenty minutes in each direction and will be served by Airbus A320, aircraft.

New domestic routes

Meanwhile, Thai Lion is adding two new domestic routes. Starting on June 11th a service linking Udon Thani with Pattaya’s U-Tapao airport will operate four times a week on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Flight number SL588 will depart from Udon Thani International Airport at 11:20 and land at U-Tapao Rayong–Pattaya International Airport at 12:40. The return journey, flight number SL589, takes off from U-Tapao at 13:30 and lands back in Udon Thani at 14:50.

The flight time is one hour and twenty minutes and the airline will initially deploy Boeing 737-800 aircraft but will change to 737-900ER from late October.

The second route to be added to Thai Lion’s timetable will be a twice-daily flight between Bangkok and Nakhon Phanom which will launch on June 19th.

An early morning service, flight number SL670, will take off from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport at 07:30 and touch down in Nakhon Phanom at 08:55. The return leg, flight number SL671, departs from Nakhon Phanom at 09:35 and lands back in Bangkok at 11:00

The evening trip, flight number SL674, will leave Bangkok at 17:20 and land in Nakhon Phanom at 18:45. It returns as flight number SL675 departing from Nakhon Phanom at 19:25 and arriving back in Bangkok at 20:55.

The aircraft will be a Boeing 737-800 and the journey is around eighty-five minutes in each direction.
