New routes to Shanghai and Hangzhou
Air Algerie adds one, and Himalaya Airlines, another, plus one to Hangzhou
September 2nd, 2026. Himalaya Airlines has lined up two routes out of Kathmandu to Destinations in China. First on the runway will be a service linking the Nepali capital with Shanghai. This will launch on September 7th and depart twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.
Flight number H9780 will take off from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, at 18:25 and will arrive at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 02:00 the next day. The return trip, flight number H9781, will leave Shanghai at 03:00 on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and land back in Kathmandu at 08:35.
An Airbus A320 will serve the route, and the journey time will be five hours and twenty minutes for the outbound flight and seven hours and fifty minutes for the return.
Kathmandu to Hangzhou
Two days later, on September 9th, the airline will launch a service to Hangzhou. The route will operate twice a week, departing on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Flight number H9225 will depart from Kathmandu at 17:15 and arrive at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport at 01:05 the next morning. The return leg, flight number H9226, will depart from Hangzhou at 02:05 and touch down again in Kathmandu at 07:30.
The outward flight duration will be a little over five and a half hours, and the return will be seven hours and forty minutes. An Airbus A320 aircraft will operate the route.

Algiers to Shanghai
Air Algérie has also opened reservations for a service between Algiers and Shanghai. The route will launch on October 26th and will operate three times a week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Flight number AH3082 will take off from Houari Boumediene International Airport, Algiers, at 07:00 and will arrive in Shanghai at O4:00 the next morning. The return journey, flight number AH3083, will leave Shanghai at 06:00 and arrive back in Algiers at 14:00.
The route will be served by an Airbus A330-900 Neo aircraft, and the journey time will be fourteen hours for the outbound flight and one hour longer for the return.
