Starlux to launch flight to Phoenix
Scat Airlines links Shymkent with Bangkok
August 25th, 2025. Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines will launch a service connecting Taipei with Phoenix, Arizona, commencing January 15th next year. Phoenix is the gateway to the Grand Canyon region, and this service comes hot on the heels of the China Airlines flight due to start in December. Flight is scheduled to operate three times a week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Flight number JX026 will depart from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport at 20:45 and will arrive in Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 17:40 on the same day. The return journey, flight number JX025, leaves Phoenix at 22:45 and lands back in Taipei at 04:55 two calendar days later.
The duration of the outbound flight will be a little under twelve hours, while the return journey will last a little over fifteen hours. The route will be served by Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Shymkent to Bangkok
Starting on December 15th, Kazakhstan’s Scat Airlines will be launching a direct service linking Shymkent with Bangkok. The flight will operate twice a week, departing on Mondays and Thursdays.
Flight number DV469 will take off from Şymkent International Airport at 19:50 and will arrive at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 04:00 the following morning. The return leg, flight number DV470, leaves Bangkok at 05:20 on Tuesdays and Fridays and arrives back in Shymkent at 09:30.
The route will be served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and the duration will be a little over six hours in each direction.
At the time of writing, the airline’s website seemed to be having technical problems, but Skyscanner lists several agencies that are offering the flight.
Also, a quick note on spelling. The official spelling of the city’s name is Shymkent. The airport is Şymkent, the S has a cedilla, Ş, and there is no h. Skyscanner spells the city Shimkent.
