Philippine Airlines will fly three times a week from Manila, and Qantas from Sydney

July 23rd, 2025. Starting from November 24th, Philippine Airlines will reinstate its service to Sapporo, the capital of Japan’s northern Hokkaido province. The region is popular for its skiing and for its snow festival, which draws millions of visitors every year. The service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Flight number PR406 will depart from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 06:30 and arrive at Sapporo New Chitose Airport at 12:15. The return leg, flight number PR405, will leave Sapporo at 13:15 and touch down again in Manila at 18:05.

The duration of the flights will be four hours and forty-five minutes for the outbound, and about an hour longer for the return. The route will be served by Airbus A321 Neo aircraft.

Sydney to Sapporo

Qantas is also resuming its service linking Sydney with Sapporo for the winter season. The service will depart three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between December 15th and March 28th, 2026.

“We know Sapporo is an extremely popular winter destination for Aussies who love the snow, and we’re excited to make it even easier for them to reach Hokkaido’s world-class ski resorts with a direct flight from Sydney,” said Cam Wallace, the airline’s CEO.

Flight number QF107 will take off from Sydney International Airport at 09:05 and arrive in Sapporo at 18:00. The return journey, flight number QF108, will depart from Sapporo at 19:40 and touch down again in Sydney at 08:35.

The flight will be served by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and the journey will be approximately eleven hours in each direction.
