Ethiopian Airlines to Hanoi
And VietJet from Hanoi to Shanghai
March 27th, 2025. Starting on July 10th Ethiopian Airlines will launch a service between Addis Ababa and the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi. The airline already operates four flights a week between the Ethiopian capital and Singapore and daily flights to Bangkok.
“We are pleased to expand our presence in Southeast Asia and enhance air connectivity for our regional customers,” said Mesfin Tasew the airline’s CEO. “This new route will create opportunities for stronger ties and collaborations between Vietnam and our extensive global network. We look forward to bringing our renowned service to Vietnam and growing our presence in this dynamic market.”
The new route will depart Addis Ababa on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with a sixty-five-minute stop in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the airline enjoys fifth freedom rights.
Flight number ET678 will take off from Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport at 22.30 and arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka at 08:25 the following morning. It departs again at 09:30 and arrives at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport at 13:10.
The return trip, flight number ET679, will depart from Hanoi at 14:10 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The flight will touch down in Dhaka at 15:50 before continuing its journey back to Addis Ababa at 16:50 where it will land at 21:35
The outbound journey will be ten hours and forty minutes and the return, eleven and a half hours. The flight will be served by Boeing 787-800 aircraft.
From Hanoi to Shanghai
Meanwhile, VietJet is launching a new daily service between Hanoi and Shanghai. Flight number VJ7238 will take off from Hanoi at 21:15 and arrive at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 01:15. The return leg, flight number VJ7239, will depart from Shanghai at 02:15 and arrive back in Hanoi at 04:45.
An Airbus A320 will make the outward journey in three hours but the return will take thirty minutes longer.
