Thai AirAsia adds more flights to India

September 19th, 2024. Thai AirAsia is adding two more routes to destinations in India. The first, launching on October 27th, will connect Bangkok and Hyderabad with four fights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flight number FD 118 with take off from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport at 20:50 and arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at 22:55 local time. The return leg, flight number FD119, will leave Hyderabad at 23:25 arriving back in Bangkok at 04:30 the following morning.

Another new route will connect Phuket with Chennai and will be served by three flights a week. Launching on October 30th, flight number FD192 will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing from Phuket at 23:50 and arriving at Chennai International Airport at 01:35 the next day. The return journey, flight number FD193 leaves Chennai at 02:05 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrives back in Phuket at 06:45.

Thai AirAsia serves 12 destinations in India with flights from Bangkok. These include Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Bangalore, Gaya, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli, and Hyderabad. Now travellers from Phuket can fly directly to Chennai as well as Kolkata.

Qatar Airways to Abha

From January 2nd, 2025, Qatar Airways will reintroduce its service to Abha in Saudi Arabia. Flights will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays with QR1212 taking off from Doha’s Hamad International Airport at 08:35 and arriving at Abha at 11:15. The return leg, flight number QR1213 will leave Abha at 12:15 and arrive back in Doha at 14:45.

The airline will also add two extra seasonal flights between Doha and Noem, expanding the route from two to four flights a week. Other destinations in the kingdom include Al-Ula, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu.

TOUR. Cats the Musical will be touring China at the end of the year and into 2025. The tour kicks off with six shows at the Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center Jucheng Grand Theater, Shenzhen from October 16th to 20th with an afternoon matinee and an evening show on the last day. Ticketing information The show will then be staged in Zhuhai, Xi’an, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, and Suzhou before culminating with 21 performances at Shanghai New Bund 31 Performing Arts Centre between January 10th and 26th, 2025.

Festival. Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival has announced some of the acts that will

perform at this year’s event. The festival will be held from November 29th to December 1st with French electronic duo, Air, headlining on the Friday night. Saturday’s headline act is still to be announced but Jack White, guitarist and singer of the White Stripes tops the bill on Sunday. Other acts lined up include US singer-songwriter St. Vincent, UK DJ/producer Jamie xx, and British psychedelic pop-rockers Glass Animals. Tickets go on sale at 11:00 am Hong Kong time on September 27th unless you are a Hang Seng Bank credit card holder, in which case you can bag them on the 24th. TOUR. Houston-born multi-instrumentalist, Keshi will be heading to Asia in February and March. The tour follows several dates in New Zealand and Australia with the Asian leg kicking off in Tokyo on February 15th at PIA Arena. This is followed by; 20th, AsiaWorld-Expo Arena, Hong Kong; 23rd, Istora Senayan, Jakarta; 24th, Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur; 26th, IMPACT Arena, Bangkok; March 4th, SM Mall of Asia Arena, Manila; March 26th, Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore; and March 28th, National Taiwan Sport University Sports Center (Linkou Sports Center), Taipei. Legendary British punk rockers, The Buzzcocks will be playing one night only at The Wanch in Hong Kong on November 12th. Tickets here It is the first time ever that they have played in the city and comes as the band returns home from a tour of Australia and New Zealand. TOUR. British band Take That will be bringing their ‘This Life World Tour’ to Asia for a few dates. The tour kicks off at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi on October 25th followed by a gig at The Star Theatre in Singapore on October 28th. The band will then move to Australia for half a dozen dates with the Asian leg resuming in Jakarta on November 13th at the Tennis Indoor Stadium on Jalan Pintu Satu Senayan. November 16th will see them at the Kaohsiung Music Center, Kaohsiung, Taiwan and November 18th at the Tokyo Garden Theater, Koto City, Japan. Links to tickets for all dates can be found here.

British comedian Ben Elton will be bringing his Authentic Stupidity Stand-Up Comedy Tour to Singapore on December 10th. The show will be at The Theatre at Mediacorp. Ben Elton broke onto the comedy scene hosting Channel 4’s groundbreaking Saturday Live and has written a string of thought-provoking books.Tickets

TOUR. Los Angeles popsters, Lany, will be bringing their Beautiful Blur tour to Asia in September and October. The tour starts on September 20th at the Singapore Indoor Stadium followed by; 22nd, Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur; 25th, Tokyo Garden Theatre; 27th Zepp Namba, Osaka; 29th, KINTEX Hall 9, Seoul; October 2nd, AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong; 4th Kaohsiung Music Centre, Taiwan; 6th UOB Live, Emsphere, Bangkok; 12th, Philippine Arena, Bulacan finishing with three shows from 13th-15th at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, Philippines.
