Two new flights from Hong Kong

HK Express is to launch a new service between Hong Kong and Sendai in Japan’s Tohoku Region about 300 kilometres north of Tokyo. The service will commence on January 17th, 2025 and will operate four times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight number OU 890 will depart Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport at 08:15 arriving in Sendai at 13:30. The return leg, flight number OU 891, will take off from Sendai at 14:25 landing back in Hong Kong at 19:00.

Sendai boasts a population of around 1.1 million. It is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture and the largest city in the Tōhoku region. It is nicknamed the City of Trees due to the proliferation of Japanese zelkova trees> In winter these trees are adorned with thousands of lights for the Pageant of Starlight, the largest winter illuminations in the Tohoku region.

In August the city holds the Tanabata Festival, the most famous of its kind in Japan, which celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi, represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively. During this time the city is decorated with colourful streamers.

Hong Kong to Dallas

Starting on April 24th, 2025 Cathay Pacific introduce non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Dallas. The new route, to be served by an Airbus A350-1000, will be the airline’s sixth destination in the United States.

Flight number CX 898 will depart from Chek Lap Kok at 16:05 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays arriving at Dallas Fort Worth at 17:55. The return journey, flight number CX 897, will take off from Dallas at 23:55 for the 16-hour flight which, thanks to the 13-hour time difference, land back in Hong Kong at 05:05 two calendar days later,
